Radiate Coaching is a Toronto-based professional coaching and consulting company that helps individuals, teams and organizations achieve peak performance at an accelerated pace.

With 20 years business experience, clients include executives, professionals and entrepreneurs in a variety of fields including media, entertainment, telecommunications, IT, marketing, communications, hospitality, financial services, consumer packaged goods and retail, among others. Services include one-on-one coaching, team coaching as well as fully customized workshops designed for teams, groups and associations.

Just like pro athletes and sports teams rely on coaches to help them take their game to the next level, executive coaching is a process that supports people to achieve their highest potential. Coaching helps create the necessary shifts in awareness, thinking and behaviours that lead to long term positive results.

Central to the coaching perspective is that all human beings are creative, resourceful and whole. Every individual embodies a unique combination of personal strengths and attributes. Whether leading a team, running a business, working with colleagues, caring for clients, or interacting with people in general, they bring this core essence to the world. By discovering these attributes and aligning with them, individuals can exceed their own expectations. This is what we call “being in flow.”

Similarly, a team’s most valued asset and distinct competitive advantage can be found in its human capital. Organizations are most creative, innovative and successful when an individual’s professional development is tied to the team’s success. By cultivating leadership in both simultaneously, organizations grow from ordinary to extraordinary.

Radiate Coaching partners with clients to facilitate this growth and prosperity, in individuals, teams and organizations alike.

For many, the New Year is a time of reflection. We look back, take stock and give it a rating based on a couple of noteworthy experiences or accomplishments. Some of us label our year ahead, and some of us name it after the fact. At parties, we hear things like, “Last year, so-and-so said it was the Year of Transformation, and this year they announced it’s the Year of Rebirth!” Or, “Last year was a rough one, but I’m expecting better times ahead.” We want to contextualize things and understand them to move forward with an upbeat attitude. This was certainly true for me.

THE LIMITATIONS OF MERELY HOPING

Every new year for as long as I could remember, I’d close my eyes and repeat the same mantra in my head. “Last year I had such a (usually an adjective like difficult or challenging or hectic) year. And this year, I hope and pray that it will be an exceptional year – that all my wishes will come true – and of course, that I will be happy. Please – whoever or whatever controls these things – please, let it be a great year!” My results might have varied slightly one year to the next. But something changed when I finally stopped to take stock of my life. Something clicked, and this click was the beginning of my most significant shift of all. It was the realization that I had a choice. And with that choice, I was going to take control – be proactive.

TAKE POSSESSION

What changed started with my New Year’s resolution. No more praying to a higher power for a great year, or to the forces in the universe for all my wishes to come true. No more closing my eyes tightly (who needs the wrinkles anyway). After years of appealing to some external force, it was time for a new approach. From then on, I promised myself to “make it” a great year. And, while some circumstances may well be beyond my control, I do my best to make it so.

The point here is that we create what we intend. And because each of us is unique, and each of our life experiences is distinct from the other, it is up to us to make the best of our lives and ourselves in our own authentic way.

I’ve included the tool above whose name and intent are to Complete The Old, and Create The New – specially designed to help you personally and proactively move into the new year, and make it as great as you intend.

What do coffee and life have in common?

October 16, 2012

Many of us go to great lengths and pay exorbitant amounts of money for good coffee beans. Then, we go home expecting to brew the perfect cup of coffee. But sometimes, no matter how much we pay, the coffee doesn’t taste as good as a fresh cup from Starbucks. Why is that? Because it’s not [...]
